Do I say hi here? I think I say hi here. Hi!
Hey, all. New member here (global name @Shockz0rz) saying hello. A little background:
I've been playing CoX off and on almost since launch--I believe I first signed up in October '04. And when I say off and on, I mean REALLY off and on--I think I've only gotten up to the 18-month veteran reward. After about a year of occasionally coming back for the former-subscriber free weekends, I believe I finally have enough cash to start maintaining my subscription again.
Also notable is that my main and by far highest-level character, Shockz0rz, a L43 elec/dev blaster, is also my first character. As in, the one I initially put together five years ago upon first installing the game. I'll let that sink in for a moment...
...you don't even want to know how long I was stuck at level 35. Thankfully, I've gotten much better at the game since then. My...unstable play schedule has also led to me avoiding joining a supergroup for a while. Until Mighty happened to ask if I was interested in joining the other day...
A couple other things:
-Unlike my in-game character, who is a technopath, I instead emit a field that causes all expensive electronics around me to break down in sometimes spectacular and always costly-to-fix-or-replace ways. Therefore, the high-performance custom-built quad-core desktop that I SHOULD be playing CoX on is currently a useless hunk of metal and plastic, and I'm instead using an old-but-still-decent laptop with a video card that really does not deserve the name "GeForce 7900". My quest to find graphics settings low enough to give me a decent framerate while on an 8-player team has so far proved fruitless, but I'm getting used to it.
-For the same reason, I do not currently have a working headset (got two or three broken ones, though!). As a result, I can't really join you guys on Vent. (Even if I did have a working one, it would turn out that the mic impedance or gain ratio or equivalence threshold or some other bullshit specification that they don't even put on the box wouldn't work right with this computer. Guaran-f#%&ing-teed.) This will hopefully change eventually, but probably not for a while.
-I am an avid anime fan; this most likely will show through in my sense of humor and/or character ideas. If something I say makes absolutely no sense, it's probably an anime reference.
...Wow, that went on longer than I thought. Anyway, it's very nice to meet all of you, and I hope to have tons of fun with you guys!
EDIT: Global handle fixed.
Also, my current alts include:
Striga Sunset - L11 Fire/SS tank
Angel de la Ira - L9-10 (I think, not sure) Psy/Energy Dominator
And a couple others that I can't remember right now and probably won't ever get used again.

Hello and welcome! I'm happy to see you actually did come join the forum after I talked to you. You are so funny and I think you will fit in nicely. I think you and Merris will get along great. He too is into anime so he may get your references. He's got me watching some.
I look forward to helping you get that first toon to 50. Promise with our help it wont take long. Let me know what times/days you play and I will make sure to jump on and help you reach your goal.
Grab a cheap headset at wal-mart and join us in vent you will love it. Even if you are not able to join us in Vent. We're happy to have you. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Well, hello there. Glad to have you with us. Like you, it took me FOREVER to get my first toon (a dark/regen stalker) out of lvl 35. That was back when it seemed as though your xp bar just wouldn't move at all. I'm the Molecular you'll see refered to all over the boards and chat channels. If you need ANYTHING here on the site, or ventrilo, just shoot me a PM here on the boards, or check out the ways to get ahold of me outside of the game and website. Don't worry about a head set. you can still log into ventrilo and hear us talking if you wanted to. Anywho, I look forward to teaming with you, and chatting with you further. Again, Welcome! Also, I have added you to the registered Members group, so know you'll notice that you can see more boards.

Hey, Shock,
I'm Mighty, the tank you ran with who recruited you on the heroes side of the game. You might not be seeing much of me for a few days because my wife gave birth to my second son yesterday and we weren't expecting him so early.
Welcome to the SG/VG though, I'm sure you'll have fun here, and find the forums to be a good source of information and venue to get to know people.
