I also have a elec/elec Brute at 50 and also need lots of cash for it. I want a Brute that I can farm redside with and kickass if 1 of the 2 I have is good than I need a build for it. Thanks a bunch

I'd go with Fire/Invuln. You'll have great damage with the fire, and have good endurance (you won't have the end cost of a power like Rage from the SS set); my reasoning for choosing the invuln over something like Willpower is because you'll have Dull Pain, which will heal you in addition to the addition of hitpoints, which will be essential if you plan on soloing when you farm.
Great damage, great resistance and defense to everything except psionic, plus a self heal = one badass farm brute, solo or not.

Re: Best Farmin Brute?
I would have to go with a properly slotted ss/sd, or a ss/wp. I have a ss/wp to 50 and with only so's he can solo farm (tv farm). The ss/sd brutes I have seen are ungodly though. I mean simply ungodly. I saw a few who could solo 8-man boss farms with only a few heals now and then (nothing a good rack of greens wouldn't take care of). I plan on getting my fm/sd brute to 50 this weekend at the least and pimpin him out. If I can get on with soold (pacted toons), should go fairly quickly. If you need some help getting a few lvl's, I will be running my tv farm a bit on Fri afternoon while wife and kids are out, then on that night to finish lrsf, I believe. Just let me Frosty.

I agree that the Elec/Shield is a badass toon, but not until after you've pimped it. If you're saying that you need the cash to pimp it, then you won't be able to effectively farm with it unless you have a team along with you helping you out.
The issue with the shield is that it is designed to be a team-based toon. Phalanx fighting doesn't do shit unless you have teammates with you; grant cover is obviously a team-friendly power since it only buffs teammates; you have no self heals and even One with the Shield, which makes a better buff than a panic button, will be something that you won't have for much of the time you spend playing because it ignores recharge buffs.
The good news about the elec/shield is that you fire off shield charge and lightning rod and all the minions are dead along with most, if not all, of the LT's. From there, Dark Obliteration (assuming you take Soul Mastery, which I suggest) and Thunderstrike will typically kill off the remaining bosses for the most part. So, basically, it is a squishy bitch of a brute, but most of the mob is dead by the time they realize you're there, which tips the playing field in your favor. Also, if you take Darkest Night, it will debuff their damage and accuracy, which will also help your survivability tremendously.
Overall, though, if you're looking to earn a ton of cash so you can pimp out your toons, the elec/shield which has yet to be pimped is not the route to take because it isn't tough enough to run against tougher mobs by itself.
