Take out the knockback reduction slot of combat jumping and put it in darkest night with a end reduc IO since Active Def and OWTS both have a Resistance to knockback component in them. You won't need that other little bit in CJ. Other than that it looks good.

One problem I could see you having with this build is that Darkest Night is gonna drain your end like a bitch. It might be better to go with the end reduction if you're going to only one-slot it because that power is another toggle on top of the other 6 toggles you already have running.

Off the top of my head, I think there are 7 toggles in this build, which means pretty much #1-Shield Charge, #2- Combustion, #3- Toggles Drop.

I definitely appreciate the attempt and pimping out as much of the defense as you can, but I honestly think that this build is gonna be a serious bitch when it comes to endurance.

That may be the case, but just slotting SO's in this toon and having all the same toggles, except darkest night, I can still burn through a mob. I figure all my powers and toggles have as much end red as I can get in them (i will change darkest night), and boasting my recovery where I can, I should be fine. Short of throwing purps in him, I think this build is the best I can do.

As I was going over this build, I just realized that you didn't take One with the Shield. That doesn't make this build very survivable since I find that Shield Defense tends to rely on that power as a buff, not a panic button.

Lookin over all the builds posts on the blue boards, most people opted out of the OWS power. They explained that with the def being as high as it is, you can get away with out it. I ran with a few /SD brutes and they explained it in the same way. But we shall see. I ran a ITF this morning with just the SO build and made it a point to run without it. Seemed to work jsut fine as I stood in front of ROmi for a bit with a kin healing me. This build should teach me what I can and can't handle after I finish it. Hopefully everything wil work out, but if not, its only a toon with fake money, so I can always reslot or respec if it doesn't work out.

Yeah, I just tend to prefer to rely on Resistance than Defense because it will help more against higher level enemies; plus, the shield has no self heal or max hit points increase power, so if something does manage to overcome your defense, the toon is dead.

Not entirely accurate. OWTS does have a +Max HP component to it. As does True Grit.

I'm talking about one like Earth's Embrace or Dull Pain, which will heal you and increase your max hit points. Shield has nothing like that, or even so much as a self heal like Healing Flames.

My ice tank is straight up def base so I have a bunch of experience with that side. As a tnak or brute it makes playing a bit more heart stopping. One min your at full HP, then you take a good hit and FUCK, your going down. The nice thing with the ice tank is that it has a self heal and a EA to boast your def. But i think the SD has a few excellent points for the brutes sake. It has against all odds, which boasts you dam, so with that and rage you are capped out almost perma. SC, knocks them down and gives you a chance to go in and kill all the minions before the battle begins. As far as the no self heal, and the lack of res, if you don't get hit, there is nothing to worry about. Have a few greens ready to go, and life should be good. I think the toon will be fun, and hopefully will live up to the expectations I have for it.

Yeah, since I got the thing to 50 and Boulder is already damn near invincible other than Psionic damage, I figure I might as well make an attempt at making it work, but even when I pimped it in Mids, I don't see it as being better than other Brutes other than the Shield Charge and Lightning Rod creating a ridiculous amount of damage. Maybe with a good amount of defense and recharge bonuses, I'll be able to drop those two attacks like bombs over and over in a reasonably short amount of time and manage to stay alive.

Here's hoping.
