Hi.

Here's what I've got planned so far. How does it look? (Other than expensive.)

Dark/Stone Empty Re: Dark/Stone

The problem that I can see you having with this build is that your recharge is going to be unbelieveably slow. With the bonuses you have, you only have a plus 31% recharge rate, which isn't bad when you consider that you didn't take hasten, and that 31% includes the recharge reduction of Granite Armor, but when you consider that you're running Dark Melee, which already has slow recharging AoE's, I think that you're going to end up with a brute which is very tough, and has great defense, but will be very, very inefficient when it comes to killing mobs.

It doesn't look like this brute is going to die any time soon, but it also looks like it will rely on the team to do the killing if you are going to move through missions efficiently because of all the time you will spend waiting for your powers to recharge.

Based on how tough and defensive the Stone is narturally, I personally would drop the Weave and Darkest Night and pick up Hasten and Shadow Maul. The Hasten will make you more efficient in bringing your attacks and Earth's Embrace back faster, and the Shadow Maul is a High damage DoT, which is also a cone and tends to shred mobs.

All in all, it's a trade off, but that's my take on it.

Here's a build I came up with that I think could do better for you because you don't sacrifice TOO much of your resistance or defense, but you gain about 20% recharge rate in addition to not having to use a single purple set, so you're going to save a fortune in cash.

Dark/Stone Empty To address recharge in stone armor

Post by mmmgood Tue Nov 03, 2009 4:23 pm

I opted for a couple of quick recharging attacks from the power pools like Air superiority and Flurry didn't cost me too much.

This served mainly two things....

Sanity for a player who needs to be doing something.

and

more damage to foes over time for the toon.

The Third I can't say too much on is possible but not probable with the Stone...
keeping taunt on foes is better achieved with this build by slotting a taunt or two.

Yeah, Soold, that is another instance in which the recharge will be important, especially since the AoE of the Dark take too long to be used to hold aggro. In the case of my brute, who is stone/stone, he has two footstomp powers in addition to dark obliteration and taunt, so holding aggro is a whole different ballgame because those powers all recharge fairly quickly.

However, you do have the mudpots working for you either way, so if you are running with people who are smart enough to allow you to obtain aggro before they head in, you might be in better shape. The trick for that toon would be reacquiring the aggro if you lost it.

All in all though, a brute like that needs recharge and stamina bonuses much more than he needs defense and regen ones.
